Remembering seems to be a key feature of November. Maybe it is because as we near the end of the year we look back on what we have done and what we have achieved. Peakles and I have been talking about how much she has grown since last year and remembering how much we have all changed.
We have had lots of highs and some lows over this year, but all in all it has been a great year. We have made new friends and Peakles has enjoyed joining a new nursery school where she has re-established some old friendships and made new ones. She has progressed from nappies (diapers) to being fully toilet trained. She loves music and dancing and jumping in puddles!
We have seen her confidence grow and we are constantly answering the ‘WHY’ question! This year she was able to enjoy a firework display without feeling scared or upset.
Peakles and I have also been learning lots about other countries through various postcard and parcel exchanges – this weekend will send about thirty postcards off to all corners of the world. Over the next few weeks we will also send off our Christmas exchange parcel and we are excited to learn about how other countries celebrate the holiday season. We are learning about lots of celebrations and festivals at this time of year. Some of them are full of fun and laughter and some of them are more melancholy and reflective.
Tomorrow is Remembrance Sunday in the UK and people are wearing their poppies in Remembrance of all the people who have lost their lives through war and conflict. We will wear our poppies and at 11.00 am we will quietly remember those that are not with us.
Then we will take Peakles to the park and let her jump in puddles and play on the swings and laugh and jump and shriek with glee and make some November memories that are happy and full of life, light and love.
We Love Weekends is brought to you each week to provide ideas on activities and things to do with your family. Please feel free to add a family orientated post by clicking on the linky below.
I have two posts that I would like to feature from last week’s We Love Weekends –
First we have Back in the Hills GeeBee’s Party: Dramatic Play this is definitely a favourite of not just Peakles but also her older brother who also liked to ‘play at parties’ when he was little. Why not let your child have a play party this weekend? Invite their toys and have a fabulous time!
We all have those moments where our little ones do something that we do not really want them to. Small Talk Mama shares with us how her husband manages to make a household chore into a fun activity with her post Choosing Chores for Our Toddler. It is also nice to hear of Dad’s getting involved too!
