Scrap Fabric Pictures
Peakles and I are thrilled to be taking part in Project: Recycle and Create again this year! What a brilliant way to use the bits and pieces around the home that would normally go in the recycling bin! Now we can put those things to good use and make some beautiful, fun and interesting things to brighten our day! This month the material is Scrap Fabric!
We have been experimenting with process art this month and I wondered if we could use the scrap fabric to make some interesting artwork. After altering some dresses and raiding my sewing box, she had a good range of different fabrics to create her textile-based artwork.

How to Make It
Cut the fabric into smaller pieces. Cover the canvas in glue using the glue spreader and then add the fabric scraps. Leave to dry.
Things We Like About Scrap Fabric Picture Making
Peakles really enjoyed cutting the fabric up into different shapes with the scissors. Her fine motor skills are developing and she was able to cut quite small pieces from the fabric. She then added glue to the canvas before pressing fabric scraps onto it. As her confidence grew she began to look at her developing piece and think about the colours and different ways to place the fabric onto the canvas. Peakles also tried pulling, shredding and tearing the fabric to make different textures.
Her finished piece was unique and rather sophisticated. It is now hanging on our living room wall as a piece of artwork that we are all proud of!
