We Love Weekends is here again already and wow have we packed a lot into…
Dark nights have crept up on us here at Peakle Pie. We have really noticed it this past week when our curtains were closed early as it was getting dark before 6pm. Although I love Autumn (Fall) as a season I always forget that it can limit the outdoor activities we do as it just gets too dark.
This weekend we are heading off to Scotland for a visit to Ayrshire for half term but it has dawned on me that British Summer Time ends on Saturday night and our clocks will ‘go back’ an hour. This ultimately means that on Sunday it will be dark before 5:00 pm.
However, I have decided that we are going to have some night-time fun. Armed with some torches and some warm coats, we will have a ‘midnight’ walk. I have a packet of glow sticks that we never used in the summer as it was too light – perfect for now as Peakles will still be awake but it will be dark too! Watch out for our glow stick games post next week!
Hopefully the skies will be clearer at the weekend and we will be able to do some stargazing. Time to dust off that telescope we have in the attic! It also means that the battle to keep our curious Peakles asleep in her bed will ease. She definitely has a ‘sunshine’ governed body clock.
I also think that the dark mornings and nights will make us appreciate the shorter day time hours. I am hoping that We Love Weekends this week will give us lots of inspiration for some activities to do over the half term break.
We had lots of interesting ones last week and starting from this week I am going to feature two posts that caught my eye.
Just for the simple yet beautiful idea my first highlighted post from last week is the Snowflake Stones from Dot to Dot Connections – we will be taking some paints away with us but I do hope we don’t get snow!
The other one that made me laugh out loud was the Spider Letter Swat from jdaniel4smom. Having a toddler and a teenager can make finding a game that both will enjoy quite difficult. Swatting the letters with giant spiders sounds brilliant! We can adapt this and play it whilst we are away!
Please feel free to link up any family friendly posts that relate to things that you can do together this week.
